About us

We aim to establish a robust network between Brazil and the UK, with a central focus on healthy aging and inequalities. This research area was chosen because it addresses a significant and pressing concern shared by both nations: the need to ensure that as people live longer, they do so in good health and with a high quality of life, especially addressing the pervasive issue of inequalities in access to healthcare and resources, but also driving differences in the aging process.

Our proposal emphasizes capacity building, not only in terms of research skills but also in addressing inequalities. Combining the diverse expertise of both countries, we can develop skills and knowledge that benefit future generations. Both countries offer unique insights into addressing health disparities in diverse communities while contributing cutting-edge research and innovation. We will also fully exploit existing datasets available in both countries to assess healthy aging. This collaboration empowers individuals and institutions with the tools to drive lasting change, fostering greater equity and inclusivity in the process.

The impact of our research extends beyond our immediate communities. By enhancing healthy aging and addressing inequalities among older people, we can promote economic productivity and social cohesion. Our collaborative approach fosters international cooperation, leading to valuable experience and knowledge exchange. These efforts will benefit societies globally while identifying deep-rooted inequalities driving unhealthy aging. In summary, our network will bridge nations and seek to create a brighter, healthier, and more equitable future for older adults.
